U.K-based Spectral Edge Ltd. marks Apple’s eighth acquisition this year, according to Crunchbase, and its 110th acquisition overall. Most recently, the company acquired iKinema, Tueo Health, and Drive.ai.

Regulatory filings showed that Apple attorney Peter Denwood became the director of Spectral Edge, while Spectral’s other board members and advisers were terminated, Bloomberg reported. Spectral had about $8.1 million in funding, according to Crunchbase.

The startup, which counted IQ Capital and Parkwalk Advisors as investors, used deep learning to show more of an image’s color, detail, and clarity. It’s unclear how much Apple paid for Spectral Edge Ltd.

This acquisition also marks another investment by Apple to improve its phone photo quality. The company has been advancing its phone’s photo capabilities, with the most recent iPhones having multiple lenses.
