Vive Organic makes cold-pressed two-ounce “wellness shots” from organic herbs and other ingredients. The company wants to offer the herbs in their freshest form, essentially removing all the excess sugar in juice drinks so consumers can have a concentrated “shot” of the powerful ingredients (think ginger, turmeric, echinacea). Most consumers tend to drink the wellness shot alongside other drinks like kombucha or sparkling water, according to CEO Wyatt Taubman.

“One of the ways that people are determining what’s better for you oftentimes can be, ‘Is it fresh? How close to the real plant is it?’ ” Taubman said. “And with Vive we’re able to deliver a concentrated but fresh dosage of these powerful super herbs in a convenient grab-and-go format.”

The Series B funding will be used to invest in sales, marketing and product development, Taubman said in an interview with Crunchbase News.

Currently Vive is focused on its core products (its three Immunity Boost drinks and its Wellness Rescue drink), but over the next year or two it will focus on expanding its core offerings, Taubman said.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made consumers more conscious of their health, for obvious reasons. In turn, Vive has seen its online sales increase 52 times and had to increase its production fivefold to keep up with retail demand, according to the company. Vive’s core products are available in more than 8,000 retail locations.

“We’re seeing more and more consumers taking a more proactive approach to health and wellness,” Taubman said. “So they’re now incorporating Vive into their daily routines more than ever before and that’s driving an increased level of demand at retail and also online.”

Vive has been growing at an average of 400 percent every year since launching in 2016, and had its first profitable year this year, Taubman said.

Monogram Capital Partners led the Series B round, with participation from Cambridge SPG and PowerPlant Ventures. The new round brings Vive’s total funding to about $23 million.
