Today ZipRecruiter, an online marketplace which leverages AI to help companies recruit top talent, announced that it has raised $156 million. The Series B round was led by Wellington Management Company and IVP. According to reports, the company is now valued at around $1 billion.

According to the company’s press release, it has worked with over 1.5 million businesses to find talent in various categories. The company has done some hiring of its own, with a headcount that it says is almost 1,000 across its offices in the U.S., the U.K., and Israel.

VCs have shown interest in smart recruiting in the past, and that is confirmed by the $219 million that has been funneled into ZipRecruiter in just two rounds since it was founded in 2010.

With recruiting becoming more difficult for many companies, particularly in high-demand fields like engineering, startups have begun to come up with increasingly innovative ways to address the recruiting market. Last month, we examined the challenges that recruiters face and spoke with a company that is leveraging blockchain technology for smart contracts in the recruiting process.

It’s an expensive burden, and like many other fields, startups and their investors are looking to cash in on a solution. We took a look at the top recruiting startups in the U.S. recruiting space. Here’s who ZipRecruiter is up against!1
