The Top Ten Accel-Led Deals Of 2018 (So Far)

Fresh off of Freshwork’s latest $100 million deal co-led by Sequoia and Accel, we’re diving into our third legacy VC checkup. It represents just one of a few three-digit deals that Accel has made in the first seven months of 2018.

Founded in 1983 by Arthur Patterson and Jim Swartz, Accel partners has definitely made its mark in tech over the last 35 years. Facebook, Slack, Dropbox, Atlassian, Spotify and Cloudera are a just few of the firm’s most influential bets.

The firm’s investment focus runs the gamut from computing and energy to media and semiconductors, and it invests in both early and growth-stage companies. Accel has branches in the Bay Area, London, and Bangalore, India.

According to an interview with Techcrunch, the firm plans to maintain its pace of fundraising every two and a half to three years.

However, with multi-hundred million rounds becoming more frequent, and players like Softbank, Sequoia, and NEA raising multi-billion dollar funds, maybe we’ll see another big Accel fund in the near future. Top Ten Accel-Led Deals Of 2018 (So Far)

The largest of the top Accel-led deals of 2018 was a was a $200 million Series E for cybersecurity platform Crowdstrike. The round, also led by General Atlantic and IVP, brought the company’s valuation up to $3 billion. Founded in 2011, Crowdstrike has raised a total of $481 million, according to Crunchbase.

Accel led another three-digit deal, this time for the consumer tech-focused, Bangalore-based health and fitness company CureFit. Founded in 2016, the company aims to help its customers live healthier lifestyles with its subscription based fitness and mindfulness classes in addition to its food delivery service. Curefit picked up $120 million in its Series C and has raised more than $160 million in funding, according to Crunchbase.
